Book Review // Star Wars - The High Republic: Tempest Runner by Cavan Scott

I've been seeing a lot of Star Wars—The High Republic appearing on wishlists, to-be-read lists, and in recommendations. So when I could grab a book, I did. Now, I have a solid understanding of Star Wars. I've read some books, comics, and most of the TV stuff. But I know very little about the High Republic, so I am excited to see what is happening.

Review

Turns out I hopped in the mid/end series here (classic). I didn't realize until the end, and I looked up the title, but hey, it happens, and it was still good as a stand-alone read, but I guess I now have another series to try and complete.

This title focuses on a "villain" called Lourna Dee. It kicks off with her in prison after she is captured by the Republic. The only problem is that the Republic doesn't realize who she is (neither did I at this stage). Luckily for me, we revisited her career highlights through well-thought-out flashbacks and realized she is a high-ranked member of the Nihil, a terrorist/gang harassing the outer rim.

I have to say this was an enjoyable read. The story, for me, was well thought-out and satisfying; it could have been set in any era, though, so I am not sure if I have gotten the exposure to the High Republic I was looking for. Lourna Dee's background was exciting and intriguing. It was nice not to be reading about a human for the whole adventure. As mentioned earlier, it worked as a stand-alone system. It has spiked my Star Wars interest, so be aware that more Star Wars is coming to the blog soon.

Cheers for reading and using any links provided; they help the blog.
